Meet the owner of the venue where Big Dreams takes place! I am sooooo grateful that Eddie Owen has been welcoming us at The Red Clay Theater for the past 4 years! For Eddie to open his venue to an event that features a singer/songwriter/piano teacher and her students is pretty phenomenal. When I first took the bold step to ask Eddie if I could use his venue for a concert for my students I was totally prepared for him to tell me no. Why is that? Well, because Eddie is a legend in metro Atlanta. His name is on one of the most iconic music spots in the area – Eddie’s Attic. Beyond that, Eddie introduced the world to some of the top artists and bands – Indigo Girls, Shawn Mullins, John Mayer, Jennifer Nettles, and Zac Brown Band just to name a few and here I was asking him to open his venue to a group of kids – many of whom were just starting to learn music basics!
Eddie has a heart for indie artists that is unparalleled. He hosts a Songwriter’s Open Mic regularly. I’ve had the honor to perform in it several times and a couple of my students Morgan Marie Shaginaw and ActressJordanRice have performed in it as well. One really cool thing about the Songwriter’s Open Mic is that it gives songwriters a chance to perform on the same stage that many well known acts have graced. When you come to an event at The Red Clay Theater it’s not about name recognition, it’s about the song and how powerful it is. As Eddie always says, “Life Is In The Song”
Eddie’s not just holding this Big Dreams sign, he means it! I’m thankful for both Eddie and his beautiful wife (both pictured with the Big Dreams sign). Eddie Owen Presents
